Jeff’s Earrings: Part One

One summer morning at Butterflies and Blooms in the Briar Patch, I arrived early enough to find butterflies in their nighttime resting positions. Hiding in a mass of low flowering plants and grass I saw Eastern Black Swallowtails. Immediately I noticed something way out of the ordinary! Even with 20 years of butterfly observation under my belt, I had never seen Eastern Black Swallowtails coupled. I was electrified! Would they allow me to approach, camera in hand?
